  • Trickles of Consciousness. A collection of writings from the Murwillumbah Creative Writing Group

  • Retirement. A poem structured as a Venn diagram with the word in the centre being shared by two poems. Thus, each of the lines on the left ends with the word in the centre, and each on the right starts with the word in the centre.

  • Why? A poem written by reducing each line by one syllable, then increasing each line by one syllable to create the shape of an hourglass on the page.

Writing Community Contributions

  • Since 2021 Suzie has been one of the two coordinators for the Women’s Fiction Writers Association’s (WFWA) BookTrib monthly listicle, which has 90,000 followers and provides published members with free publicity for their books.

  • For three years, Suzie worked with The University of the Third Age (U3A), a worldwide, non-profit, volunteer-led organisation providing low-cost education for retired or semi-retired people to establish, teach, and arrange accredited speakers for a free, local creative writing group that is still flourishing with 20 members attending weekly.

Writing Education

Suzie has participated in multiple workshops, writing retreats masterclasses, and courses varying in length from a day, week, three months to a year, in Australia and overseas with QWC, NSW Writers, James Cook University, Queensland University, Curtis Brown UK, TAFE NSW ULI, and Adult Education.

A labour of love

Writing Activities

  • Attends a closed writing group and has for the past 24 years.

  • Critiques 70,000 words a month in three international critique groups, Beta reads and edits many writing friends’ books, including published writing friends.
